However, before you hire a professional, there are a few simple steps you can take to address your furnace or air conditioning problem yourself. Often, when people call for Milwaukee furnace repair or air conditioning repair, one of the following steps would remedy their problem:

  1. Make sure the thermostat is set to either the heat or cool position.
  2. Set thermostat to desired temperature.
  3. Make sure the switch at the furnace is in the ON position by turning it OFF and then back ON.
  4. Check filter for accumulation of dirt (Replace or clean as needed).
  5. Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers.
  6. For air conditioning, check the outside disconnect to make sure it is in the ON position.
  7. For heating, ensure the gas shutoff valve is turned on at both the gas line and inside the furnace.
  8. For heating, check for snow, leaves or blockages in the vent pipes.
  9. If you have a flexible drain hose to the floor, make sure it is not plugged, kinked or rolled up.
